Admission Procedure

Overview

• Admission to Ekalavya Model Residential School, Kodavaluru is made through a state-level competitive examination for tribal children of Andhra Pradesh, ordinarily at Class VI.
• All children who have studied in and passed Class V from any recognised school and are bona fide residents of Andhra Pradesh, in the prescribed age group, are eligible to appear in the EMRS entrance test for Class VI.
• As per the scheme, a maximum of 60 students can be admitted in Class VI each year in an EMRS. Education in EMRS is free of cost.
• The test is designed so that talented children from rural and tribal areas of the state can compete without disadvantage. Sufficient publicity is given through schools and villages so that children from far-flung areas can obtain application forms.

Eligibility conditions

• The candidate must be a bona fide resident of Andhra Pradesh and belong to the eligible ST category as notified for EMRS admissions.
• A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class V in a Government / Government-aided or other recognised school in the academic session immediately preceding the year of the test. Actual admission in Class VI is subject to having passed Class V before admission.
• A candidate seeking admission must be between 9 and 11 years of age on 1st May of the year of admission for which the entrance test is conducted, unless a later NESTS / State notification specifies otherwise.
• The candidate must have studied and passed Class III, IV and V from Government / Government-aided / recognised schools in the preceding three continuous academic sessions, spending one full academic session in each class without repetition, gap or break.
• No candidate is allowed to appear in the selection test for the second time under any circumstances.
